Frequently Asked Questions
Virtual Range Shooting Simulator
What is the Laser Range Shooting Simulator?
A safe, fun, and cost-effective way to train for recreational, competitive, tactical or professional shooters...of all skill levels.
Who is it for? - Novices, Beginners & Young People.
The Virtual Range provides a non-threatening environment for beginners to learn about firearms and shooting sports, while enjoying a fun and realistic experience. For those new to shooting, or simply looking for a pure entertainment activity, we provide a comfortable and practical introduction to shooting without any of the anxiety of using live ammunition or shooting an actual firearm for the first time.
Is it safe?
Yes. The Laser Range guns fire 'shots' of Infra-Red laser light at the Simulator screen and interactive targets. There is NO LIVE ammunition involved, or allowed on the premises at any time.
Small hand-held laser devices can be potentially dangerous if a constant stream of laser light is pointed directly at the eyes of a bystander. However, the SureStrike™ emits a short laser pulse well under eye safety requirements. The SureStrike™ laser cannot be “switched on” in its normal state and therefore cannot beam a constant stream of laser light.
The SureStrike™ is not a risk to the eyes if used in a normal and appropriate manner. The SureStrike™ conforms to or exceeds ANSI Z136.1-2000 safety requirements.
A live round cannot be inserted in the weapon chamber when a properly installed SureStrike™ laser occupies it.
This installation in clients' own weapons includes the UhrSecure system, which uses a Safety Pipe and Safety Nut that secure the SureStrike™ in the weapon.
How much does a Laser Range session cost?
30 mins session: $25*, plus $10 each additional shooter
How many people can take part?
A maximum of 4 people (active participants) per regular booking may take part.
What kind of weapons are used?
We have three options for weapons:
Can I use my own gun with the Simulator?
With prior arrangement and subject to an extra fee, you may bring your own unloaded firearm into the facility to be fitted (if possible) with a laser adapter cartridge, which will enable you to then use your own weapon with the simulator. Please call us for details.
We respectfully request that you do not bring your own firearm onto the premises, without express prior approval from Altus Training.
Live ammunition is strictly prohibited and may not be brought onto premises at any time.
While we fully respect responsible ownership and possession of firearms for personal protection, the presence of live weapons and ammunition in the same facility with training weapons carries the potential for safety issues. We use realistic training firearms in our facility which presents a risk that a real firearm could be mistaken for a training firearm.
